Charts and Navigation
There is about 35 topographical maps and numerous nautical charts of the Alaskan coast alone, thats without the BC coast and including Vancouver Island. We will be using both systems of charts and maps to make our way down the coast, into inlets as well as open water crossings. All of our kayaks have luminous deck mounted compasses for navigation
Food and Water
Food wise, at any given departure we will have between 3 -4 weeks of food and fuel in our kayaks. Our resupply points will be in towns as we travel down the coast. As the environment of the west coast is often not conducive to open flame fires, we will be using fuel stoves to heat and cook our meals. Lachie is keen on fishing and the odd dinner of fresh seafood will assist to the diet. Water is readily available and will be filtered, stored and heated using MSR products.
