August 2008 - Lachlan has spent much of this winter in Papua New Guinea, guiding and co-ordinating expeditions along the Kokoda Track. I head to join him guiding in September and then we are off to adventure around and summit Mt Wilhelm, the highest mountain in PNG at 4509m. Be sure to check out the photos upon our return in October.......KP

August 2008 - Now that my body has recovered from this almighty race, I thought an update would be nice......... Lisa and I had an incredible and rewarding race; winning the female tandem kayak in 53 hours and 55 minutes, with a new record in hand by 5 hours, placing 30th overall out of 89 starting boats. This year's weather was interesting....and with great technical abilities saw a new river record set by the Kisseynew crew of 39 hours and 32 minutes. It was a physically and mentally demanding race, but well worth all the energy to meet and compete with entrants and support crews from 12 different countries. Take a look at the photos and remember 'When you are wanting to escape life on land - go Seaward'. See you on the water.........Cheers KP

June 2008 - Lisa McGee, a Lethbridge, Alberta local and I are teaming up late this month to paddle in the Women's Tandem Kayak division of the 2008 Yukon River Quest. A mere 747km down the Yukon river from Whitehorse to Dawson City. In previous years, the race has been completed in just 40 hours! Check out the race website at www.yukonriverquest.com

For updates every 20mins throughout the race, check the link at http://www.yukon1000.com/results/results.html Team #60. Big thanks to Seaward and Icebreaker yet again for their continued support. See you on the river.........KP

December 2007 - Due to some of the most intense weather we have ever encountered (winds at more than 150km an hour), we posponed our paddling mission for a trekking circuit in Torres Del Paine. After several discussions and gathering information from the higest authourities of the Armada, Chilean Navy, and numerous Patagonian local outdoor adventurers, we decided to leave the Horn for a winter paddle, hopefully in 2009. Check out the attached pages for details....... LH and KP

November 2007 - We're off again. This time together again and to Cape Horn. Yes the same Cape Horn that you've heard about. The bottom of South America. Quite often considered one of the wildest pieces of water on the planet. Stay tuned for more stories and photos as they happen..... LH and KP

January 2007 - a trip into the remote Tasmanian river, the Franklin, was launched by Lach, Kristy, Waz, Gayle, Tony and Tim early this year. Using both a raft and a kayak they successfully made their way down the river through class 5 rapids over a distance of 83 kms and 10 days. Check out the page on the Franklin for the photos and stories. Good on you guys......KP

September 2006 - So a few days ago, we ended a trip of 46 days into the mountains and along the roads of Yunnan and Sichuan provinces. I never expected the cobblestone roads, the altitudes of 4870m, the 70km climbs or the Tibetan culture and hospitality that we were met with. Experiencing nomads churing their milk into butter inside their tents, the dung fires that produce a thick rememerable smoke, the remote and vast landscape, abundance of flowers, the rivers, yaks and vultures. Busy highway roads with truck horns blowing out my eardrums, a jam session at 4500m, potholes and falling from my bike. The smiles, kindness and genuine pleasure these people share in their hospitality. This adventure was full of many more experiences than I ever thought. The hail storms, temples and local cultures. 2340km and 33343m of vertical climbing. Im still not completely converted as a cyclist, but it really is a great form of travel to experience a culture, see a country and live a very stimulating lifestyle. The smiles are everlasting....... KP

May 2006 - Well here we go again........In the beginning of July, Heidi, Kevin, Hollie, Joel and myself are spending 7 weeks on bikes cycling in Southwest China, through the Yunnan and Sichuan Provinces. From Kunming to Dali and finishing in Chengdu, we cycle through long valleys and over high passes to 4487m. Quite the challenge for a Sea Kayaker!!!!! We will posting photos and details of this trip as we go. Check out the page on China. Kim Petherick

October 2005 - So we made our destination of Squamish BC in 106 days covering a distance of 1440Nm, 2665km from Skagway AK. We paddled around 515hours, over 1.5 million strokes and experienced an incredible part of the world by Sea Kayak. We started our adventure on the Summer Solstice and finished on October 6th 2005, paddling into Squamish with storm warnings on our tail! Check out the pages for photos and stories and contact us for any further information. Thanks for the lasting memories from all the people we met. Head out and experience this amazing area of Southeast Alaska and British Columbia when you get the chance. Whether by float plane, boat, ferry or kayak, put it on your tick list as a must. Remember when you are wanting to escape life on land - go Seaward! See you on the water.
